Handmade for the Holidays

95 daysAs we prepare for a Christmas in an economy that is struggling, turning to our own ingenuity, ability, and creativity when giving Christmas gifts is a heartfelt yet economical way to show your affection to friends and loved ones.

Countdown to ChristmasToday’s Countdown to Christmas Challenge is to go through your Christmas gift list to decide who might be most appreciative of a gift made by hand. Start researching what gifts would appropriately match your skills. Make a list of the materials and supplies* and be sure to have instructions on hand should you need them. Set goals on your October and November calendars for completing your gifts.

* Available as a download in the 100 Days to Christmas 2011 eBook.  Members to ListPlanIt.com can print or download Handmade Gifts Planner in Holidays & Occasions.

Visit the 100 Days to Christmas Facebook page and let us know what handmade gifts you plan to make or dream of making!

Of all of the lists included in the ebook, this is my favorite one. Well, I should say, so fa! What a wonderful idea to have a handmade list that includes what supplies you need and reminds you to save the instructions too. Thanks, Jenn!

  • Casey

This is something I definitely need to do, as I plan to make most of my gifts! Thanks for the opportunity to win a kindle, too. I would love to have a portable library!

  • Janet Archer

I have done gifts in a jar before and they are always a hit. Spiced tea, cookie mixes, and cocoa are favorites. For people with dogs, I get the red and green dog biscuits and do a jar for them. This year I am thinking of doing the tile trivets also.

This is exciting! I know I would love a kindle but it’s out of the budget for sure. I have liked on FB and posted your Christmas gift status. Have followed you on twitter as well and I am trying to do some each day. Thank you for the opportunity.

I follow you all over the place. :)
As far as home made gifts – I always have my son, now 6, make something for the extended family (grandparents, uncles, great grandmother, etc). Sometimes it is a simple ornament. Last year he/we made Christmas magnets using a kit I had acquired. This year, I think I may take him to the local “paint your pottery” studio and see what he comes up with. The family always thinks it sweet to get gifts from his heart and they treasure them. I not only get the tangible gift, but I get the memory of making the gifts with him.

Having a Kindle would make it so much easier to always have my books with me. No more lugging heavy magazines and books!

I always think I’m going to make presents for Christmas, and I do make some, but I don’t start early enough to do all that I would like, so it was great to get this push to make a list and get on with it. I’ve blogged today about some of my home making plans. 8o)

Thanks for the giveaway! I’d love a Kindle so I could take more books with me when I’m out and so I can read what I want when I want, instead of forgetting what books I wanted to read by the time I go to buy some!
