Gift-giving is a special practice. Though the goal is to give joyfully, there tends to be a lot of stress placed (usually self-induced) on the giver. One tremendous resource for choosing meaningful gifts for loved ones and friends is a simple Wish List.
Whereas Saturday is a day of catching up and working it out, Sunday is a day of family. Each Sunday post will contain an seasonal task or activity that involves getting the most out of time with loved ones.
Today’s Countdown to Christmas Challenge is to create a page** for each member of your immediate fam
ily and give them a chance to jot down their wishes (or work on it together). Then add the pages to your Christmas planner for quick reference. Now you’ll have a place to go when new ideas for gifts are mentioned. Make a comprehensive dream list and later, you can whittle it down to a more manageable size.
(**Members to ListPlanIt.com can go to Holidays & Occasions for printable Wish Lists. See also the Holiday ePlanner for just $4.95).

I never thought to have each family member make a list, I mean I have the kids write a letter to Santa, but I usually have a few extra ideas about what I would like for them to receieve and now I can have Hubby make a list also. Perfect!!

What a great idea, to have a list for each family member. I just try to keep it all in my head, but I’m losing my memory in my old age

I do this! I give each kid a piece of paper and asked them to write down their wish list, whether it’s something for $1 or an impossible amount of money!

[...] 100 Days to Christmas challenge for today is wish lists. I already do this! Each year I give the kids a piece of paper and asked them to write their wish lists. Anything and everything whether it’s worth $1 or some ridiculous amount. Of course, they don’t get everything that is on their lists but it does give me a good idea when it comes time to buying them gifts for Christmas and their birthdays. I very often have a running list in my purse of each family member’s wants…as the year goes by, whenever anyone mentions something that they would like to have I try to remember to jot it down, this way when I see it on sale I can snatch it up! But I must admit I don’t always remember everything, so this makes a lot more sense! Especially doing it now too! I think we will find out what the true desires are verses the programed wants that happen from being bombarded with all the commercials telling you what you want!!! Great suggestions as usual!
I used to tell my kids when they were small (now 29 and 24) that it took a LONG time for the letters to get to the North Pole and they wrote down a letter to Santa and list on one of the new theme book pages for the new school year. That way when they were in school and before the crowds and craziness, I would start to shop picking up here and there. Stuff was on the shelves and not sold out either.
Another thing I do is keep an eye open at the Dollar Tree. 5 neighbors exchange type gifts, one year they had popcorn bowls in red and green. I put inside, a few bags of micro popcorn, movie theatre candy, 1 liter of Holiday Pepsi and a cartoon dvd, shrink wrapped it with a bow. Huge hit and it was as much as buying butter, flour, nuts etc. for cookies.
I subscribed via email. Thank you for both the wonderful site and the contest.
I have tweeted. I have shared on Facebook and MySpace and blogged.

I sort of do this. I have one page and each family member gets a column. That way when I am out shopping or looking around on-line I only have to have one page with me!

Good idea to start now. I personally try to keep track myself of things the kid mention. I should have them actually do this though, great idea!
