Today’s Countdown to Christmas Challenge is to seek out a local aid agency in your area. Choose from eithe100countdownr the human or animal variety (or both). Check out their website or give them a call to find out what their wish list is for this year. Round up the children and make a trip to a discount store to purchase whatever you can afford. Every little bit helps. Then deliver the supplies as a family. Use this season as an opportunity to demonstrate the importance of giving of yourself. Everyone benefits.

Tonight at dinner, go around the table with your immediate family and ask them what they are thankful for in their lives. Use their answers as a way of building upon the holiday. There will be a lot of veterans and their families struggling through the holidays this year because of separation through deployment, some will be coping with injuries, and others will have to endure the tough financial times.

The Countdown to Christmas Challenge for today is to take this opportunity to teach your children that100countdown because of a history of dedicated veterans, we have the freedom to celebrate the holidays in whatever style suits our beliefs and traditions. Today, with many children being home from school, it would be a good day to enlist their help in delivering the food you have been collecting to your local food bank as there will be a good number of veterans partaking in the donation of charitable organizations this holiday season. And, if you know a veteran, tell them “Thanks” for their effort and sacrifice to our country.
