Thanksgiving Recipe Roundup

54 daysThanksgiving is just over three weeks away! It is a good idea to start thinking now about what recipes have worked for your Thanksgiving dinners in the past and what recipes are such parts of your tradition that you wouldn’t even think of having Thanksgiving without them.

Countdown to ChristmasToday’s Countdown to Christmas Challenge is to start looking through your recipes to locate favorites and keep them together in a convenient spot. If you have a copier at home, copy several of your favorite holiday recipes onto a few pages, then add these to your holiday planner under a new tabbed divider called Thanksgiving. Then, replace your recipes back to their original location for safe-keeping.

What are your sources for Thanksgiving recipes: family, cookbooks, the internet? Visit the 100 Days to Christmas Facebook page and join the conversation.

100 days to christmas

Entertaining for Christmas

61 daysMany households host a party or get-together sometime during the Christmas holiday season. It might be a cookie exchange with friends, a kids’ party with your playgroup, a holiday tea, a casual family gathering of food and gifts, or a more formal dinner party with just adults.

Countdown to ChristmasToday’s Countdown to Christmas Challenge is to begin to think about what might be happening in your home in December. Maybe you’ve always wanted to host a get-together in your home but never considered the details in time to organize it. Maybe your home is already designated as the hub for Christmas gatherings in your family. Don’t wait! It will only bring stress if you put it off. Start thinking about your entertaining budget, list of guests, food, supplies, and location. ListPlanIt‘s Holiday Party Planner* is a great way to get started with your Christmas party planning.

* Available as a download in the 100 Days to Christmas 2011 eBook.  Members to ListPlanIt.com can print or download a blank Holiday Party Planner in Holidays & Occasions as a worksheet for your holiday event planning.

Aunt Trina’s Pumpkin Bread

62 daysEven if you feel you are behind in your holiday planning, you can still catch up and be ready. We are taking baby steps so that December will be a fun month rather than a stressful push to just “get through the holidays”. My sister informed me that she had the best recipe for pumpkin bread and muffins. She said they were the moistest muffins she’d ever had. The kids and I made her recipe and we are hooked!

Countdown to ChristmasToday’s Countdown to Christmas Challenge is to make a delicious loaf of pumpkin bread or muffins today. Not only does it make a great breakfast, but it also makes a terrific after-dinner treat. We recently cut up three pumpkins from our garden to use for the puree in these muffins and they were amazing! Help yourself to Aunt Trina’s moist and delicious Pumpkin Bread/Muffin Recipe.

Visit the 100 Days to Christmas Facebook page and tell us about your favorite pumpkin recipe.
