Christmas Cookie/Candy Planning

43For many people, homemade cookies and candy are as much a part of Christmas as the tree or stockings. For many others, holiday cookies are always the goal, but never thought of until it is too late. Whether baking for a fun family activity or for cookies to give to Santa or for the annual Cookie Exchange you participate in every year, cookies are a fun and delicious way to celebrate the holidays.

Today’s Countdown to Christmas Challenge is to search through your cookie recipes to find the co100countdownokies you’d like to make this holiday season. Have a favorite from your childhood? Search it out. Make it a new tradition. Once you’ve found the recipes, add the ingredients to your current shopping list, or create one just for cookies and candy. Start baking now and freeze them for the holidays. Or plot any cookie baking on the calendars in your Christmas Planner.

  • You are so right; this is definitely one for the calendar! I ALWAYS say if it isn’t written on the calendar it won’t get done. That is especially true at such a busy time of year!

  • I have decided on a few standbys that we use every year. I have stocked up on a few of my baking items. I have extra butter in the freezer and I stocked up on flavor extracts. I try to add things to my weekly shopping to absorb extra costs and stay on my budget. Works very well!!! My first baking and freezing day is Dec. 5th. I will do candy the next week.

I usually make English Toffee and bake bar cookies, but I am debating this year – I have worked really hard to lose weight since April gone from a size 12 to a size 4 and the thought of candy and cookies in the house is like sabotaging all my hard work, not to mention the sampling that goes on while making the candy and cookies…….

I know we are going to do a cookie exchange, so know I will do peanut butter blossums and probably a collasal cookie. But there are these cranberry hootycake cookies that I had last year that were divine. I may include those too! Much to plan, much to plan!
