There. I’ve said it. As much as it pains me to mention cleaning, it is unfortunately unavoidable this close to a major holiday. This week, we will focus on one major task a day. If we can accomplish each task this week, we will be all the more prepared to host Thanksgiving and leave time next week for the food preparation.
The Countdown to Christmas Challenge for today is simply to prepare yourself for a mindset to clea
n. Even if you are not hosting Thanksgiving, it is a great way to prepare your home for the start of the Christmas season. Come back each day to commit yourself to the task at hand. Let us know how you are keeping up (or not).
One of my favorite things about the holidays is the music! I love bringing out my old Christmas CDs, but I always buy a new CD each year. Here is a list of CDs I would like for this year.
1. What A Night! A Christmas Album by Harry Connick, Jr.(2008)
2. Noel by Josh Groban (2007)
3. A Swingin’ Christmas by Tony Bennett (2008)
4. The Christmas Collection by Amy Grant (2008)
5. White Christmas by Matt Belsante (2008)
6. Let It Snow by Michael Buble (2007)
7. And Winter Came by Enya (2008)
8. A Winter Symphony by Sarah Brightman (2008)
9. Songs of Joy & Peace by Cristina Pato, Nilson Matta, Robert Leslie III Hurst, Matt Brubeck, and Yo-Yo Ma (2008)
10. The Hotel Cafe Presents…Winter Songs by Various Artists (2008)

Because I work in retail, we listen to Christmas music starting NOW. My favorite album of late is Sarah McLaughlin’s Winter Nights…..it’s like sitting beside a warm fire with a good friend.
Have a good cleaning week.
I love my Brenda Lee CD and I love my Harry Connick, Jr! I’m soooo ready for Christmas and am already itching to put up decorations!

Well, we’ve already had Thanksgiving, but cleaning is never a bad idea!
Great list of holiday music – I can’t wait to start playing mine. I wait until after Thanksgiving though! I can’t believe we are only 39 days away. . .thanks for helping to keep me on track!
Cleaning…I knew it would be coming sooner or later. Darn. But at least I’m pretty on task with everything else. So maybe this year it won’t be as bad.
can I site this post as justification for my need to play Christmas music tonight? I’ve been trying to sneak it for weeks while DH is at work because he is a firmly “not until after Thankgiving” type but I’d listen to Christmas music all year long!
These all sound like great CDs. I am really looking forward to the day after Thanksgiving when we start listening to Christmas music.
m hosting early Thanksgiving. Things are almost all done, unfortunatley I could have planned and got help from the kiddos. Im too tired to enjoy it Im afraid! Oh my, Michael Buble, do we need to say more, his voice is……………heavenly……….sigh!!!!!

We’re another household of “Not until after Thanksgiving” but it’s killing me. I don’t think a massive dinner deserves an entire month of focus but I do think that a month is not nearly enough time to adequately celebrate Christmas. Still, the hubs says no, so it’s no on the Christmas music. Just a reminder, again, about something I mentioned in the forums– AOL radio (which you do NOT need AOL to use) has a fantastic variety of holiday music radio stations right now that just stream in through your computer. It’s a nice way to keep diversity in your holiday music as well as find some new favorites you might not have heard from otherwise!
As far as cleaning goes, I’m a SAHM. If my house wasn’t guest worthy at all times, I think I’d be fired. Still, I look forward to this week. It might shake up my routine.
I’m a stay at home, homeschooling, working after hours mom. This year my plate is full and I am taking a bit of my own advice and delegating. Oh yes, my house will be getting cleaned on schedule, the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. The catch is… I WILL NOT BE DOING IT. I have found a wonderful person and chosen to bless her with some extra work this season. At the same time I will be blessing me with some time to take care of other more pressing issues.

This website has REALLY helped me get my holidays organized. Not to mention the new creative ideas!
I have been bragging about it on our family website (see link here)!

Cleaning was on my agenda this week. With Thanksgiving coming up and then the Christmas decorations going up right after that, I need to do my fall “spring” cleaning. The Christmas music is a good idea to get and keep me in the mood!

Cleaning will definately be on the agenda this week, even though we won’t be having TG at our house this year. As far as Christmas music goes, we also wait until the day after TG. I had to sneak some in while I was in the car, though, yesterday! (TeeHee!) Had to find the station that was already playing it 24 hrs. so I could get my “button” set. LOL! Would love to win a CD. One can never have too much Christmas music! LOL! ~Bev~
Ahh… this has been on my list of things to start for a while, but I’ve moved it to the top. We’ve got guests coming for the holidays and there are a lot of little (and some not so little) cleaning projects that need to be done.
