For many families, pets of all kinds are treasured members and friends. They guard homes, warm laps, love unconditionally, make exceptional playmates, and add life.
The Countdown to Christmas Challenge for today is to pay tribute to the pet in your life this Christmas. Mayb
e you buy it a new bone or a new play toy or even have your children make something that shows how much you value that pet. Give your pet a little extra attention this holiday season.

Our little pup has her own stocking and several gifts under the tree every year. She even gets presents from my mom’s dogs!!

Awww…so love my baby dog…she’s my third child even if she is a bit furry!
I always get her a couple gifts…rawhids, special made treat and usually a toy or too. Even Grandma buys her gifts. You just gotta love on your pets! I even buy things for my neighbor’s dog…just love the furry ones!

We do a stocking for our dog too. We fill it with her favorite treats and a couple of new toys. I think this year my son and I are going to make some homemade treats that she really likes and cut them out into Christmas shapes too.
Our pets are lovingly referred to as “fur children” and this weekend was such an example as we had to put to sleep our 20 1/2 year old Russian Blue cat – my heart has a piece missing. Our dog was looking for him last night, checking all his usual places, so people are not the only ones who benefit from having the companionship and love from our pets. I love to sew and luckily my machine embroiders – I made personalize stocking for our pets, my son and DIL pets, sisters too. This year I’m making dog coats out of fleece and matching stuffed toy. I have the cookbook 3 Dog Bakery, great homemade treat recipes.
You are right, I never do this. I also think it will teach a valuable lesson to the kids and reienforce giving something back to everyone, even our pets! This is going in my planner! Thanks!

I don’t have a pet, so I’m using this as another catch-up day. Sometimes I buy something special for my step-dad’s dog. I’m not a dog person, but this dog was given to my step-dad by my mom, who passed away in March. This will be our first Christmas without my mom, so I’m trying to be as prepared as possible because I have no idea what my emotional state will be like closer to Christmas.
