Easy as Pie

30Pie, glorious pie. I love a Thanksgiving meal, but I dream of the pie that follows. Have you decided what type of pie to make for Thanksgiving?

The Countdown to Christmas Challenge for today is to bake your pie or pies. You still will have pl100countdownenty to do for tomorrow, so get the pies done today. I make my own butter crust and then both a pumpkin pie and a pecan pie. Don’t forget real whipped cream! (But should be saved for tomorrow.)

I’m baking two pumpkin pies today. With my trusty passed down pie crust recipe. YUMMMM….. For me the best part of Thanksgiving is the stuffing and the pie.

  • My kids and I just finished making two pumpkin pies. That is our annual contribution to my parent’s Thanksgiving meal. My daughter has been making the pumpkin pies since she was 4. It is such an easy pie to make and now she is so good with measurements. This year my 4 year old son made a pie. Cracked the eggs and everything!

  • Oooh – Name Bubbles look like a neat idea! Love it!
It is rainy-icky-can’t-get-out-and-do-errands-baking-and-laundry weather today! I will bake the two pumpkin pies for tomorrow, plus allergy free chocolate chip cookies.
I also have a dish to return to a neighbor – and believe that dishes should not be returned empty, so I will make 2 apple crisps. One for her and the other because my husband would feel cheated just having the apple crisp walk out the door. :)

  • In my (never-ending) effort to make great-tasting but just a bit lighter food, we are having a Cinnamon Pumpkin Custard instead of pumpkin pie this year. I think it will taste just like pumpkin pie, but without the crust.

I’ll be making that today, as well as getting that darned turkey brined!

Fortunately I am not responsible for the pies…not my specialty
