There are so many uses for a good pumpkin! They make wonderful pies and baked treats, decorations for your home and porch, soup tureens and bowls, and of course, Jack-O-Lanterns.
Today’s Countdown to Christmas Challenge is to visit your local farm
stand or grocery store for the perfect carving pumpkin. Then spread out some newspaper on the floor of the kitchen, over the kitchen table, or even on the lawn; pull out the appropriate utensils for carving such as a larger, sharp knife for the top and knives with smaller blades for the detail work; and a large spoon to help you scoop out the “guts”. Create a traditional design such as a face or search the internet for a pattern or design. Do not forget to remove the seeds for the extra bonus of yummy Spiced Pumpkin Seeds.
This week’s giveaway ends today for a customized Christmas canvas from October Belle Designs. You can choose from one of her Christmas collections:
* The Jolly Jingle Collection: Colors are apple green, red and white with accents in chocolate brown or black.
* The Merry Berry Christmas Collection: Colors are cranberry, dark green, gold and chocolate brown.

I am really enjoying this website. I have put together a holiday planner, sorted out all those ‘these would be great for pressies’ things I’ve collected during the year, and already ordered two presents online. I’m more excited about the advent calendar though and planning for carols and looking at Christmas lights and making rum balls – all those things I always want to do but never get around to.
I want to win a personalized canvas! I really enjoy this website.

This is our first ever year of NOT carving pumpkins. We’re not even going to paint them. We visited the Pumpkin Patch a week ago and have since decided that our gourds are much too beautiful to decorate. Hopefully they’ll keep just the way they are until Thanksgiving!
I love this website. I’m feeling much more in control of the holiday preparation! Thanks.
I love the canvases — also posted on Facebook:

We had a “Pumpkin Theme Dinner” – pumpkin and white bean chili, pumpkin waffles and pumpkin souffle for dessert. We used a small pumpkin – cooked and pureed – for all of the pumpkin in the dishes. Lots of fun!
