Today is Veteran’s Day. Many children will be home today, wondering why there is no school. Some communities have a Veteran’s Day parade, but many communities are quiet on this day. There will be a lot of veterans and their families struggling through the holidays this year because of separation through deployment, some will be coping with injuries, and others will have to endure the tough financial times.
The Countdown to Christmas Challenge for today is to take this opportunity to teach your children that
because of a history of dedicated veterans, we have the freedom to celebrate the holidays in whatever style suits our beliefs and traditions. Today, with many children being home from school, it would be a good day to enlist their help in delivering the food you have been collecting to your local food bank as there will be a good number of veterans partaking in the donation of charitable organizations this holiday season. And, if you know a veteran, tell them “Thanks” for their effort and sacrifice to our country.
Today is also my husband’s birthday, who happens to be a veteran! Happy Birthday, Babe!! I love you and am so proud of you!!!

My daddy is a vet, a vietnam vet.
I posted about him & Veterans day on my blog.

Great reminder for today. Our local schools are out today. We have two Navy bases and several Guard posts in the area. I am grateful for the freedoms we have today! Thank you Vets!

Perfect for today! We’re so fortunate to live in a country protected by all of these brave folks. Without their sacrifice, our world would be a much different place.
